[GET] Jaguars defending head Josh Allen: June 8, 2021 – Fees

(How do these OTAs differ when you are the leader of the defense) « In my early years, as you said, I had Calais [Campbell]So I was in that stage of development, and I was just a mushroom, I just ran around all these guys and I was around them, I was just trying to adjust to the league. They definitely did their part. Going this season when the guys are like Roy [Robertson-Harris]who played in the league before, Malcom [Brown] likewise, Jihad [Ward] and just adapted to the culture, it’s a pretty neat table because now I get translated. I get to know a little more about how everything works, how the NFL works, how to adapt to the league. It’s been fun and hopefully we’ll continue to grow as a group. «

(Learning about the new defense system under the leadership of Defense Coordinator Joe Cullen and the new roles.) “Only two athletes who can switch positions, such as K’Lavon [Chaisson] and me too [Dawuane] Smoot, I feel like we’re playing an old ball. We play what got us here, so to go back to habits, to go back to those traits, I feel like it’s a good sign for both, especially Smoot. I’m just excited to see that we put the pillows on so we can really put it on and make us a lot of plays. «

(Who plays the same position as him and DE / OLB K’Lavon Chaisson) « I don’t know. We just have to see. I really don’t have an answer for you. But I see that we’re all spinning; we’re all trying to play as many different roles as possible. diverse. You never know what might happen. We’ll do all the plays as long as we all continue, no matter who we have there, we’re straight. ”

(His impression of the building’s new coaching staff and energy) « It’s a victory and a victory now. It’s one of the most important things he preaches every day. This is not a year, this is not a two-year, three, seven-year plan. This is a plan, which we are going to win today and win the Super Bowl.We have a lot of motivated guys.We have a lot of guys who are ready to win, it’s ready to go there and just put it on the line.We have coaches who do the same, so as long as we have coaches with backs, we just go there and play. That’s what I’m most excited about and that’s what I’m most excited about with coach Meyer, and I can’t wait to see it. ”

(There is a restarted team this year) « It’s just a different group. We have a lot of the same players as last year, so we have a lot of friends who experienced it last year. We have a lot of new faces, a lot of new players. So, we have us and then there are guys who come in and try to build this culture.Once we have got all the guys who are in one plan, one goal, one mind, then you have friends who are there for fun.You have friends there if they make a mistake , you have to pick them up. It’s just the culture we’re trying to bring here. It’s the culture we’re going to play. «

(Improving the number of sacks) « Last year was last year and we have a whole new different group, we have a whole new different system, we have a whole new different coaching staff to help us get where we need it. I can’t really talk about it, but I know the first of the game, we’re going to get well and put a lot more pressure. I’m just looking forward to it. I know we’re all going to improve it, and I can’t wait. «

(If the new system is better suited to DE / OLB, K’Lavon Chaisson) « If we had returned to the system last year, I feel like he was going to make a big leap. He knows what he had to do to fix what he did last year. , and he just got better. I’ve seen a huge improvement from this year to last year and again, I can’t wait to see him go out there to compete and do a lot of plays for us. «

(With the energy of the seven fronts) « We just love to play with each other. Even outside the field we stay connected and stay in that unit. It’s all one. It’s not much separate goals. We all came together, we all figure out what we need to do, we all figure it out , how we’re going to do it, and that’s how we join and that’s how we communicate. That’s how we’re going to be. one big family and we’re just going to get better week by week. I love this group. I think we’ll be shot for the stars soon. «

(If this group is committed faster than the groups he’s belonged to in the past) “We only have a lot of guys who want to win and who want to win now, like new guys like Malcom [Brown] who has been a system accustomed to have a great line of defense accustomed to winning. So he brings this culture. We have Roy [Robertson-Harris] which also came from real high-end defensive lines, one of the best lines of defense that brings culture here. We also have Jihad [Ward] who brings it here. We have guys who got better, like [Dawuane] Smoot, me and K’Lavon [Chaisson]. So, [we’re] just brings all the gains and only brings competitive excellence, that competitive culture only drives us to heal. So I can say yeah, we definitely get to where we need to be, just trying to win. «

(In the era of Urban Meyer) « It’s just an all-in mentality. If you’re not an all-in player, if you’re not someone who wants to compete, who wants to improve better not only for yourself, but for your teammates, it’s a culture where we we have to move on and we have to get guys who are willing to sacrifice, who are ready to win, and who are willing to give their all but to themselves but to their teammates, he brings people out and that’s what players expect, I just want to play for everyone, I want to play from all angles, I want to help them out and I know they want to help me. We just have to play hand in hand and so far so good. «

(About the tempo difference between the team now and in the past) « I don’t know. Yeah, kind of it’s a little different. But like you said, it’s fresh. We don’t have pads on. We really can’t make a play when the play has to be called because we have to stop and give up. I think next week we’re on some type of pillows, we can really start watching it and see our friends actually playing there. By the way, no. I don’t know, that was a good question, Mark. You got me into it. «

(What he wants to improve this offseason) « For me personally, it’s about staying healthy. It’s about staying on the field for as long as I can and helping my teammates as much as I can. As long as I’m there on the field I feel I can participate. from the ball and with the same mentality every snap. I look forward to it, stay healthy, stay on the field. «

(The new staff keeps the team healthy) « Yeah, definitely. With the training staff, it’s definitely new energy. [Director of Athletic Training Jeff Ferguson] Ferg definitely brings a lot of juice to the school room like you want to be there. It’s not a place where we don’t know what to expect. Guys want to be there, guys want to laugh, guys want to get treatment. The guys want to be big, like I said, not only to myself, but to the whole team. It starts with taking care of yourself and they definitely do a great job in the school room and also in nutrition. Food improves a lot, it is much healthier. When all these things are combined together to develop the culture, the development side of football, it makes the best of it. Best of the best. »

(From what he was pondering this offseason) « Just to stay healthy. We had a lot of injuries last year, we had a lot of guys to go early, we had COVID situations, guys who just didn’t play, so it puts us back like that. [Our goal] is just to stay healthy. But [in regard to] conversations with other teammates, just work. We’re about to come up with this new system and we knew it, we knew what to expect from it. Now that we’re all here, we all just have to work. «

(If this year feels like a new beginning) «  » It’s definitely just the beginning. That is the beginning of the beginning. We have not only a new coaching staff, but also a new team. We still have a young team, and we still have a team that is ready to go out there and compete in every play. As long as we continue to develop it, I think we will be fine. «

(Defense Coordinator on Coach Cullen’s energy) « I say what, I can’t explain Coach Cullen. He’s a different guy and I love him. As soon as you step on the field, you get a completely different side that you didn’t expect because I know he’ll meet him in person , I knew he was a soft type guy, cool, cold.As soon as he passed that red line, oh man, a lot of energy, just shouting comes out, that love, passion. But like I said, it just shows the passion and love that he has towards us, just the desire he wants to play I’m not going to lie, it makes me want to go harder just to hear him scream a little harder, to say things and then to be, “Hey, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to say that. ‘ It’s definitely really cool. I’ve never played with a coach like this and I’m excited to be able to move with him. «
