Jogoos management is said to have held a final meeting earlier this week and has decided to resign with some players to rebuild
Ugandan Premier League (UPL) record champions SC Villa have been reported to have been fired by nine players.
When the goal is to build a new team for the next season, Games is understood to have drawn up plans for the release of Brian Nsubuga, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Albert Mugisa, Hood Kakooza, Charles Lwanga, Ambrose Kirya, Samson Kiryan, Ibrahim Kibumba and Ronald Magwal.
Coach Edward Kaziban is said to have provided a list of players he would like the club to sign, but bureaucratic delays have not allowed the club to act at his request.
Lwanga has already completed a change to former champion KCCA FC, while Kiryan has been reported to be negotiating with Wakiso Giants.
According to reports, SC Villa held a final meeting on July 28 at the club house in Kampala, after which they decided to decide on the release of the players.
Kalyowa, on the announced list of players to be released, called on the Uganda Football Association (Fufa) to act because Jogoos would not pay him for months.
“When I see Fufa coming to help former foreigners with financial considerations, I wonder why it can’t help active players who the clubs haven’t intentionally paid for,” the midfielder quoted Football256 as saying.
« But why Fufa right? »
The former Soana midfielder claims he has not received a payment in the last 10 months.
“Imagine serving a team with a debt of 10 months and going through this Covid-19 season with five kilograms of rice from Fufa just to hear the other players in the group get a two-month salary,” he continued to complain.
“Just because some of us have an expired contract or aren’t good enough for the club?
« Does that mean we didn’t work at the club. We’re always considered bad when it comes to Ugandan money, but it’s too much to deal with. »
Ugandan clubs are in the process of releasing and signing players, and if the 16-time league champions reach nine, it will be the second highest number since Express FC released 18.
